How to view site logs in DirectAdmin’s Site Summary and Logs

Open a domain’s usage log and error log, adjust the number of lines displayed, and correlate events with a site issue.

Site Summary and Logs brings together domain status information and access to web logs. The Usage Log lets you review requests; the Error Log helps you identify errors recorded by the web server.

The control panel address, server name, domain, username, versions, limits, and available tools may vary depending on your service. Use the details in your hosting welcome email.

1. Locate the domain

From the dashboard, open Information and Files → Site Summary and Logs. If you have multiple domains, use Filter by domain or subdomain and find the row for the site you need.

Location of Site Summary and Logs under Information and Files.
Locate the tool and choose the domain of the site you are reviewing.

Under Logs, you will find Usage Log and Error Log. View Statistics provides reports on visits and resource usage; it does not replace checking these logs.

2. Check the Usage Log

Click Usage Log in the domain's row. Under Show, you can choose Full Log or Tail. Tail displays the last lines of the file; adjust Tail Size (lines) and click Reload Log to refresh the view.

Adjust the number of lines and reload to review recent requests.

An access log typically includes the source address, date and time, method, requested path, HTTP status code, and response size. The following example uses an address reserved for documentation:

text
192.0.2.15 - - [22/Oct/2026:10:15:00 -0300] "GET /pagina HTTP/1.1" 404 512 "-" "Cliente web"

In that example, /pagina was requested and the response was 404. Match the code and time to the action you are investigating: 200 indicates a successful response, 301 or 302 a redirect, 403 access denied, 404 a path not found, and 500 an internal error. A code alone does not identify its cause.

3. Review the Error Log

Return to Site Summary and Logs and click Error Log for the same domain. Use Tail with a manageable number of lines, reproduce the failing action on the site, and click Reload Log.

Compare the time of the problem with recent messages in the error log.

Look for messages with the same time and path. An empty log does not prove that the site has no errors: the application may use another log, or the event may not be included in the visible lines. This tool displays the log that the control panel provides for that domain.

4. Check the Raw view and preserve the context

The Raw link opens the text representation of the selected log. If you need more context, increase the number of Tail lines or use Full Log, keeping in mind that a large file may take longer to open.

To request help, gather the domain, date and time zone, failing path, HTTP status code, and relevant lines close to the event. Before sharing them, remove personal addresses, identifiers, passwords, tokens, and any other private data that may appear in URLs or messages.
